Started a little slow last year. Lost to CD. Played some close games and kept getting better. My advice is schedule them early. Still - Give LN some credit.

MP - NM
|
|
Agree MP has to stop coming out so slowly, but this game was never in question once the scoring started about 3 minutes into the first quarter. 3 goal lead at end of first quarter turned into a 5 goal lead at the half turned into a 9-goal win. I thought NM did the best they could with what they have. They only had something like 9 or 10 subs. Hard to run with that many guys. Their goalie was pretty good - made a lot of stops and cleared well. Just too many shots and opportunites for MP. And hats off to #10 for MP, Charlie Passenant, for getting his picture in the paper. Charlie Passenant?

A very nice, professional write up of the MP v NM game in this morning's Observer. Even got a good size photo! MP came out slow and never really had the game truly in hand until the second half. They'll need to come out stronger and more awake against Lake Norman.

Good article. Nice to have that much written about a NC team, regardless of who it is. PHS is very beatable this year. Tucker's and Pete's loss cannot be underestimated. Won't be easy, though. Good luck to all.

LKN is a good team. It'd be great to see them add to the number of Charlotte teams that make the playoffs this year.

Technically he is correct about the "club". Other than the word "club" however there is nothing "club" about them. They follow ALL the same rules and regulations as every other sport. Other than finances they operate like any other sport. Player eligibility, transportation, etc. CMS lacrosse plays in and plays for the NCHSAA championship just like any other sport. It is now a mindset. HS lacrosse deserves to be covered and treated as any other sport as HS lacrosse operates like all other sport.

Good job on a great game! Its nice to see the teams up north making hugh strides. Don't be so quick to jump on here and defend your loss though. Congrats on a well played game against the reigning state champs

"CMS schools are in fact still club status. CMS is not financially supporting the sport but is allowing club teams to participate in NCHSAA playoffs so long as they follow NCHSAA rules." -Langston Wertz This is what he wrote in response to my e-mail.

Lake Norman - Providence
|
|
Lake Norman outplayed PHS in every phase of the game. Had a 4 goal lead with 4 minutes left. PHS came back to tie the game and won in overtime. Very intense game. Lake Norman close D is the best I've seen in the Charlotte area in a long time. PHS was very sloppy but Lake Norman D had a lot to do with that.

Providence 9 Lake Norman 8 (OT)

Before everyone gets on here making excuses about sloppy play, refs, etc. Lake Norman deserves attention, they played great but couldn't hold onto their momentum. They were ahead of Prov the whole game up until the end and couldn't ever get it back. LNHS played NO seniors at all tonight so that's the facts, LKN's goals scored by 3 sophomores and 1 Jr. Now let's start hearing allllllllllll the excuses and reasons why it wasn't a blow out . . . . . . we're waiting . . . . . . . . .

How Weddington hasn't even played a game yet and they are hammering away at how great they are!?! They don't even play a good team till March 17. Keep it Warrior nation! I'm sure you'll handle sucess real well!!! Show some class wait for your season to start.

Thanks to whoever checked in with Langston Wertz. Our sport is in a potentially difficult transition period from true club to true high school sport, but we'll get there. People in the local lacrosse community with connections in CMS administration really need to stay on CMS to stop calling lacrosse in CMS a club sport (because it isn't - it's a sanctioned NCHSAA sport) and to drop the rule about privates not playing publics. And those in our community with connections at the Observer need to stay on them to cover the sport more and also recognize it not as a club sport but rather as a fully-sanctioned high school sport deserving of as much coverage as other non-big 3 sports. We're only going to break through if those with connections are willing to stay in front of the right people and keep making the arguments. That's the only way.

I dont know why you guys are getting so excited about a playday. Most of the good teams there didn't have anything to prove so they were not playing to win. It was a learning experience for the guys new to varsity. Some teams were still making cuts. Wait for the real season. You still have to think about cardinal gibbons and Chapel Hill, those two teams would beat(blow you out).

It doesn't matter what it was, it was still a sort of game. Weddington doesn't even have a goalie and catholic could barley score on them. Weddington is going to be good this year. There attack is too stacked with burnam, c.kennedy, and shiek
