Thanks ditka and agree with your assesments. Great Job. I also agree about AK and LKN. Coach price is a great coach. The LKN boys had an amazing summer in NY and NJ and will be playing together again this fall. The middle school program tied with the summer travel program for the elite players has made them extremely strong this year. The 12 boys who played together all year are an exceptional group of players who get along extremely well and play as a team. The LKN defense is a unique group who truly defines the word team. Will be fun to watch them play this year.

While I think LKN and AK are in for break-out seasons for their programs, it's just nonsensical to count out Catholic. This is a program that has been great every season for years now. Coach Turner is one of the best in the business and Catholic gets the best middle school feeding of any program in the city (probably the state, at that). Their Sophomore class is incredibly talented and they have some leaders in Beach and Hebert. They may take some time to gel at the beginning of the season with all their youth, but you're kidding yourself if you think they won't be in the mix at the end. PHS is another stalwart program that can never be counted out. While Catholic has the best middle school feeding around, PHS has had some of the worst and still pieces together teams of athletes that can flat out compete every season. Coach Humphrey is an expert at turning athletes into lacrosse players, so don't be surprised when a bunch of kids you've never heard of are making plays for the Panthers again this season. Their defense will be their strength.

I'm not too familiar with the LKN roster but they fielded a tough team last year that played some great defense and had very good coaching, much like the State Champion Myers Park team last year. They return basically everyone and their guys had a very productive summer. Whatever is going on in the LKN area with the youth programs is certainly working. AK will finally reap the benefits of having good middle school players pumped into the program for years now. Dylan Kane was a stud for Team Carolina this summer, and the Lombardi brothers are hard-nosed athletes that will turn some heads this Spring. Coach Price also has the luxury of choosing between two excellent goalies (one of which is a strong defenseman as well). Now that he has the talent to work with, Coach Price will begin manufacturing some scary teams each season.

Who all does AK have that makes them be one of the best teams in Charlotte? Just wondering who their best players are this year

Don't Worry, Be happy.

We here at Catholic will not be one of the top teams this year, so don't worry--be happy you can beat up on us. We will work hard and try to improve as the year goes on like we have for years. Talk and worry about the true top teams in the area. Hopefully we can give the other teams our best shot and see what happens. The talk on here already has us hitting the wall trying to get better so that we can be semi-respectful on the field. Hopefully we will give your team a good game. See you in the spring.

Catholic Bashing
|

Catholic does it to themselves. Read some of the old post from them and their fans and you can see why people bash them. Last year is a prime example. They did not come close to winning a State Champ yet they are already positing they are best in the area this year. Like it has been stated on this forum they are just barely in top 8 this year. Deal with it and move on. AK and PHS and MP will absolutely dominate them this year. Yet alone LKN and others.

Recruiting
|
To set the record straight on Catholic: 5 years ago the Cyclones team was legit and played well together. Tally, Sawyer, Banick, Acatelli, Reyes, Hoffman, Deaver, Scroggins etc. Deaver and Scroggings went to PHS while the others, mostly zoned for Weddington, chose to go to Catholic so they can play together. There was no recruiting, they took advantage of an option that they had to play together. Look what happened, 2 State Championships!! Imagine if Weddington had Itialinao, Sawyer, Banick, Acatelli last season...WOW

When Catholic was at the top, all you would hear on this forum was how great they are blah blah blah. Now that things have become more equal, they feel the need to defend the program. Keep hitting the wall, hitting the pavement, listen to your coaches and the best team will prevail

Catholic Bashing
|

It's insane the way all these other schools put a verbal beat down on Catholic. What have they done to solicit it? The most ridiculous part is the accusations of recruiting. All you other schools can talk now, but us at Catholic, we'll wait to prove you wrong come spring. Talk is cheap

Providence-Returning Five Starters, including 3 all conference selections and multiple Team Charlotte and Team Carolina players. Catholic-Returning 4 starters, including 2 all state and all conference selections. And again including Multiple Team Charlotte and Team Carolina players. Could go either way.

Thanks Ditka great to see you posting again. It was clear the previous post was not yours. Out of the top five can you breakdown who you think the top two are? What are the strengths of them and who are the players to watch? I am interested to get your take on them

Impersonation

Sorry folks, we have another impersonator of me on here. That previous 'Ditka' comment was not actually me, and I don't agree with what that person said. I think LKN, PHS, CCHS, MP and AK are going to all be very close and in a dog fight for supremacy this year--it should be very fun to watch. If I had to rank the teams right now though, I would rank them the way the other poster did 1-7.

If you mean Catholic will kill all the other teams outside of top five then you are correct. Inside the top 5 catholic will be 0 - 5 and more than likely will not even be in the games. Just some preseason facts.

Pretty much 100% correct. But as we all know preseason rankings don't really matter.
