May 13 2009 13:29:47

Congrats!
Coleman Russell and Addison Williams, Seniors, Attack and Goalie, Providence Day Chargers, NC

Russell and Williams proved to be instrumental in the Chargers' 12-7 win over Charlotte Country Day on May 8, the third meeting between the schools this season. Russell provided a bulk of the offense by netting five goals to go along with an assist while Williams made 19 saves between the pipes. These two will now lead the Chargers in the North Carolina Independent Schools state tournament where they might meet CCD for a fourth encounter.

Providence High
As a Myers Park supporter I would love for PHS to win it all. They have a terrific team and are really fun to watch. I hope they take it all. Good luck Panthers!!!

Pulic Schools
Is there an all-conference public school team that will be announced like the local private schools do? Just curious. Do the coaches vote on these teams?

Privates
Country Day defeated Cary Academy
Providence Day defeated Forsyth 15-5
Christ School defeated Durham Academy 14-10
Latin defeated Cape Fear 18-9

Christ School at PD and Latin at Country Day on Thursday. Heck, CS plays Polar Bear and Ty Baugh and several of their other players are from Charlotte, so lets just call it an All-Charlotte Final 4. Good luck to everyone.

PHS Wakefield Location
Actually, PHS did not get to play any playoff games in Panthers Stadium. MP, Laney, and now Wakefield all at Marion Diehl. Nothing against Marion Diehl, its a nice facility. But a home game would be nice. I guess that is the only "good' thing about sanctioning. Then they can "fight" for the facilities rather than always being kicked out.

Charlotte Lax Unite
In this time of the year we can take our crosshairs off of one another here in Charlotte and start rooting for one another. It's in everybody's best interest to build up the region, and everybody in the QC should be pulling for Charlotte teams to bring home the trophies. Let's show the rest of the state that Charlotte lacrosse is the cream of the crop in NC.

Go Panthers, Cougars, Buccaneers, Chargers and Hawks!

Providence
When and where does Providence play? As much as I hate to say it, good luck panthers. Bring Charlotte a state championship.
May 12 2009 19:35:04

PHS
Come on Charlotte. Bring a big crowd and root for PHS. Cover the hillside and make some noise.
May 12 2009 19:31:39

PHS Wakefield Location
Confirmed, tomorrows game will be at Marion Diehl at 7:00. PHS's womens soccer team kicked them out of the stadium. ...#2 seed got them one home game against weddington...
May 12 2009 19:16:46

Tomorrow
I believe PHS will be playing at Marion Diehl field once again.

Semifinal
Have not seen Wakefield play but all the evidence indicates that they have a very strong club coming up to Charlotte tomorrow. They made a living this year beating up on mediocre teams, but a big win over Page shows that they are the real deal.
While Wakefield may be undefeated, Providence is virtually undefeated as well, and they've done it against a much tougher SOS. PHS is downright battle tested and has found a way to win against the best teams. Humphrey always seems to have his guys composed and focused in big games. Wakefield will need to bring something to the table that Providence hasn't seen before and shake their confidence a little bit.

This game has "slug-fest" written all over it. Two teams at the height of competition in the state scrapping it out for a trip to Duke...don't be surprised if there's a healthy amount of flags flying tomorrow night. This game is one you won't want to miss. I just feel bad for the folks on the other side of the state that have to watch Chapel Hill beat up on East again.

Bottom Line
Bottom Line is that this will be a great game of lacrosse. Show up. If wakefield expects an easy show against providence, let them. They'll soon know that Providence isn't 20-1 by chance. And if providence thinks theyre already on their way to states, then shame on them as well. This will surely be a great showing of lacrosse with a much more even score than we've been seeing in PHS games.

prov
Wakefield has not played anyone nearly as dominating as providence. the best team they have played is Cardinal Gibbons and the score had no telling on how the game actually went. I have orvidence by 3 in a 15-12 game. You cant come out after playing mediocre teams and try and beat a team like providence. Their speed takes a while to get used to

PHS
I have seen every team in Charlotte play multiple times. Seen the PDS/CD game, CD/Latin, PHS/Tabor, PHS/MP etc etc etc. PHS is the classiest, most well coached team around. I don't know much about the teams fromt he other part of the state, but traditionally they have ruled the post season on the public side.
PHS has an advantage over any team, they will out hustle everyone. They are so well coached and allow themselves to be coached that I find it hard to believe anyone will beat them.
