Last years MP team was absolutely a solid team. I am a LKN fan and I have to tell you the playoff game loss to them 6-5 was absolutely a game that showed how well they played as a team. Great coach and the players were class acts. You are right when you say they will be hard to replace. MP parents were also class acts. In such a close key game these parents were great to watch the game with and made it fun to watch two good teams go at it. MP will be fine but will have the obvious holes to fill which they will. With such a good coach he will find a way to do it. Good luck to them and I hope they do comeback strong so we as Lax fans get to see some great games this spring. I look forward to LKN playing MP, PHS, CCS, Wedd, MR, AK, etc. It is no fun to beat teams 20-0 so the teams above make Lax fun in the spring.

I agree with your comments.... several considerable losses at defense but in my opinion the most heavy losses are going to be in between the pipes and the attack position... Also no one can take away from how important the middies were to they're play, Look to in between the pipes and attack to be the biggest voids to fill... gonna be a tough year for them here the loss of Wagner, Lowe Passenant, and Whiteside is going to hurt them quite a bit... Jeffries and Maloney also going to be very difficult to replace

Agree top programs will be the usual suspects. Not other team will be close. Charter not even close to being in the mix with MP, CCS, PHS, AK, etc. Should be a great spring for these strong programs. Cant wait to see them play each other.

very hard to tell there is a lot of parity this year. Lot of question marks in goal. Any of these teams can and will make a run deep into the playoffs and hopefully for one a chance to play for the State Championship: Ardrey Kell, Myers Park, Lake Norman, Catholic, & Providence. Very doubtful anyone else gets past these guys-sorry Weddington & Marvin Ridge-just aint going to happen

MP unproven in the goal

Much of Myers Park success will depend on how well they rebuild after graduating all those seniors. In particular, it will be interesting to see how the new long poles and goalie handle being in the fire for the first time.

What is everyone's thoughts on who is the top five public programs this year. I am sure MP,PHS,AK,MR,CCS right? No other programs in the mix for being good? I see lot's of people picking AK to win it all. How about Weddington? Is any school up north any good. How about Lake Norman Charter school. I read they have all americans on team. Whats this sites thoughts.

think about it?

catholic lost a ton however they are not going to be bad but no team in the charlotte area is gonna be amazing as they have been and people are talking about how AK and MR are gonna be dominant... In my opinion Grimsley was returning the best team however the transfer of a key defensemen really hurts them If I was a charlotte team I would be looking out for North West Guilford and RJR out of the triad...

Agree with your comments. This team is very similar to MP last year. A fantastic group of young men who play together very well. Young team but they are the true definition of the word "team". The starting 12 traveled together all summer and had some real success in New York, NK, Long Island etc. They are playing together this fall as well. Extremely strong D unit. The key to their success is the word TEAM.

As always CCDS, PD and Latin will dominate the state and all three will make the final four like usual. Cannon lost a ton, but who knows since they play in the QC against the best competiton. Cape fear made nice run last year, lost a bunch of seniors. DA should be solid again. Expect Christ to be decent, but they lost talent last year, probably they'll lose to all the local privates like they usually do. Cary Academy should be good to. They didn't lose much and they were strong. Expect GSO to bring up the rear with GDS, FCDS and Caldwell all being weak. Prediction: CCDS wins the state over another QC team in the finals.

Lake Norman

Count on them to be contenders this year. Stand-out players, in my opinion are a group of 12 that play Travel Ball together, incredible talent pool. They have a great feeder system in place as well. Yes, they are in a weak conference, but they will schedule great competitive games as they did last season. Conference cannot be controlled.

I hear a lot about Lake Norman on this site. Never seen them play so cant comment myself. Will they be a contender this year? Who are their key players? Looks like they have a really weak conf.

why does everyone hate on them? people hate to see them do good. chill out its going to be a good year. your just making catholic push a little bit harder with these remarks. How about we wait and see when the season comes and then judge a team. all this preseason stuff is useless. No one expected mp to with the state championship last year and they did.

I don't remember anyone from Catholic or Providence last year bragging about their state champ win constantly. But maybe I just have a bad memory.

Fall Ball

Fall Ball can be a good chance to see how each team will be next year. With so much talent lost in the QC last season, it's safe to assume that most teams will be rebuilding. It should be a fun fall!
